Adaptive scanning - a proposal how to scan theoretical predictions over a multi-dimensional parameter space efficiently
نویسنده
چکیده
A method is presented to exploit adaptive integration algorithms using importance sampling, like VEGAS, for the task of scanning theoretical predictions depending on a multi-dimensional parameter space. Usually, a parameter scan is performed with emphasis on certain features of a theoretical prediction. Adaptive integration algorithms are wellsuited to perform this task very efficiently. Predictions which depend on parameter spaces with many dimensions call for such an adaptive scanning algorithm.

The Quasi-Normal Direction (QND) Method: An Efficient Method for Finding the Pareto Frontier in Multi-Objective Optimization Problems
In managerial and economic applications, there appear problems in which the goal is to simultaneously optimize several criteria functions (CFs). However, since the CFs are in conflict with each other in such cases, there is not a feasible point available at which all CFs could be optimized simultaneously. Thus, in such cases, a set of points, referred to as 'non-dominate' points (NDPs), will be...
متن کاملAn efficient interpolation technique for jump proposals in reversible-jump Markov chain Monte Carlo calculations
Selection among alternative theoretical models given an observed dataset is an important challenge in many areas of physics and astronomy. Reversible-jump Markov chain Monte Carlo (RJMCMC) is an extremely powerful technique for performing Bayesian model selection, but it suffers from a fundamental difficulty and it requires jumps between model parameter spaces, but cannot efficiently explore bo...

This paper presents a new approach for channel tracking and parameter estimation in cooperative wireless relay networks. We consider a system with multiple relay nodes operating under an amplify and forward relay function. We develop a novel algorithm to efficiently solve the challenging problem of joint channel tracking and parameters estimation of the Jakes’ system model within a mobile wirel...
متن کاملEvolving agent-based models using self-adaptive complexification
This paper focuses on parameter search for multi-agent based models using evolutionary algorithms. Large numbers and variable dimensions of parameters require an optimization method which can efficiently handle a high dimensional search space. We are proposing the use of complexification as it emulates the natural way of evolution by starting with a small constrained search space and expanding ...
متن کاملTwo-Surfaces Sliding Mode Controller for Energy Management of Electric Vehicle Based on Multi Input DC-DC Converter
In this paper, a two-surfaces sliding mode controller (TSSMC) is proposed for the voltage tracking control of a two input DC-DC converter in application of electric vehicles (EVs). The imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) is used for tuning TSSMC parameters. The proposed controller significantly improves the transient response and disturbance rejection of the two input converters while p...
